Ocean Systems Laboratory can do all your testing for Waste Water Treatment Plant Compliance for
obtaining a new permit and the quarterly testing when you receive your new permit.
We run influent and effluent BOD’s in duplicate, influent and effluent Total Suspended Solids
(TSS) in duplicate, morning and afternoon fecal coliform and effluent oil and grease.
If you are required to get a new permit for your waste water treatment plant you must also test for
some chemical parameters such as: Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Total
Keldahl Nitrogen (TKN), Nitrate-Nitrite Nitrogen (NO3/NO2-N), Ammonia (NH3), and Total Phosphorous (P).
We will collect these samples and send them off to an off islands laboratory. We will also do
the effluent BOD, TSS, Fecal and Oil and Grease here at the laboratory. This will give you all
of the parameters necessary for your Permit Application.
We have a special low temperature room where we run the BOD’s, as temperature is critical for
proper analysis of this parameter. Our BOD facilities are equipped with a computer interphase
and a very large incubator that can accommodate ten tests per day.
