The St. Croix Laboratory is a full service facility for water testing and information. We are open for
residential testing on Monday. Sterile bottles or bags must be picked up at the laboratory prior to collecting
samples and returned between 10 am and 3 pm on Mondays (In the event of a federal holiday, the lab will accept
samples on the following Tuesday). Results can be picked up the following Monday between 10 am and 3 pm. The charge
is $30.00 per sample, which includes sampling before and after a filter, if there is one present. Analysis includes:
Total Coliform, Fecal Coliform and E. coli Bacteria. Also included on the report: Total Dissolved Solids and pH.

We are the only commercial laboratory on St.Croix and we serve as the Federal EPA-Designated State
Laboratory. This status allows us to conduct work for the local government.
We run all the drinking water analysis for Public Water Suppliers and Bottled Water. We test all the
local wastewater treatment plants for compliance with TPDES permits. The Lab runs the entire near shore
water samples for the government to determine recreational water safety and we test the water at popular
beach sites for beach users recreational water sports safety.
Judith A. Buchan manages the laboratory in St. Croix. Judy has been with Ocean Systems Laboratory for
15 years and is certified to run all microbiological analysis and waste water testing. Marcos Fabio has
recently joined Judy at the lab and is currently training for the Laboratory Supervisor.
Back on the scene after building and running the laboratory in the beginning years is Neil Coulston. He
is the backup at the St. Croix Lab. as an analyst, collector and the on-site building and repair person.
The accounting department is also located on St. Croix, where Lesley McAuliffe handles bookkeeping,
payables and receivables.
High School graduate, Jane Whipper, is our summer student analyst in training.
